September 2015 Part 2

During the second half of September we took the girls to see Honu By The Sea at the Hawaii Theatre Center.  They also enjoyed getting to meet the characters after the show.
I had the opportunity to attend the Joint Spouses Conference at Hickam Air Force Base.  We got to select 4 workshops to attend and the highlight for me was a surfing lesson and getting to snorkel.  I also participated in an Asian cooking class and Mixology lesson
Marlie had a biography project for school.  She decided to do her project on Wilma Rudolph and made a bottle version of her.

Our home décor is always a work in progress and we livened up Marlie's bed a little.

We ended the month by welcoming my mom to Hawaii.  She came to visit us for a few weeks.

The End of Summer Break 2015

As summer break came to a close, we had to start getting ready to go back to school.  Emma's preschool had a registration day where we went to finish up her paperwork.  The girls ended up looking so cute that day, I had to grab a quick picture before we left the house.

Emma keeps me on my toes with her fun personality.  On the morning, I took this picture she walked up with a back pack, hat and sunglasses on.  She informed me "We press the Blues Clues button to take off to the sky".

We have found ourselves a new farmers market "home" at Waialua Farmers Market.  The vendors are so friendly and always send me home with more produce than I actually paid for.  All four of us went one Saturday and Marlie got to enjoy a fresh coconut among other goodies.

Bryan & I got to celebrate our anniversary a week late with dinner at a popular local restaurant, Opal Thai.  After dinner we got some ice cream and did a little window shopping.

On the actual last day of summer break, we spent a few hours at the pool with friends.  It was a nice laid back way to enjoy the day.

The girls both started school on July 29.  Marlie is in 3rd grade at our local post elementary school and Emma is in preschool at a local private school.  They were both so excited to attend their new schools.

Marlie took tennis lessons for the first time.  She had a lot of fun and considering it was her first time, I thought she did great.

We went into Honolulu on the last day of July for our first Eat The Street.  There was lots of good food but I think the girls enjoyed running around outside the most.

Oahu Week 5

After a month of living on the island we were starting to find our way - a little bit!  The girls and I ventured out to one of the malls to run an errand and afterwards tried out Aloha Crepes.  They got some strawberry, chocolate, cream combination and loved it!

We all went to the Haleiwa Arts Festival one weekend.  Bryan and the girls spent most of the time hanging out at the keiki (children) tent while I walked around to all the booths.  There were a lot of things I liked but I ended up just getting three pieces of wall art and a cross body purse.  Emma and I enjoyed an Uncle's Ice Cream Sandwich before we left the festival.

Bryan and I celebrated our 12th anniversary on July 19th.  We weren't able to plan anything special for just the two of us that day so we just packed a picnic and all 4 of us went to the beach for the evening.    It was simple but definitely memorable!  We even opened our last bottle of eiswein from our Germany years for the occasion.

One of our neighbors organized an end of summer beach bash for the moms and kids.  We all basically took over a small beach area in Haleiwa for the day.  My friend and I rented paddle boards for us and the kids to use.  It was another surreal experience to paddle around the famous "Rainbow Bridge".
