Oahu Week 4

Food trucks are very popular in Hawaii and in July we got to try some of them.  The local high school hosts a monthly food truck night as a fundraiser so we were more than happy to support them.  We bought way too much food, but the girls' favorites were probably the bacon wrapped mochi, fruit lemonade and popsicles.

One of our neighbors from Fort Leavenworth is originally from Oahu and has been here with her family while her husband has been deployed.  Her youngest son just celebrated his first birthday and we were invited to his awesome party.  It was held on Secret Island at Kualoa Ranch.  It was literally a small island that we had to take a boat to.  They had so many activities for everyone to do including volleyball, paddle boarding, kayaking, and sand toys.  It was a beautiful location and such a fun day.

There are always cool little things to be found on an Army post that are unexpected.  I had noticed this "castle" on my morning runs and drove the girls over to it after we survived the commissary one morning.  It isn't in the best shape but the girls were still impressed.  It was built by an engineer unit and  looks like a castle on this side, but the other side is just cement stands for a baseball field.  It would be nice if one of the units would take the initiative to clean it up again.
My friend, Teri, took us to Lanikai/Kailua, which is one of her favorite beaches.  Emma laid out in the sand again to relax and enjoy the view.
