Throwback Thursday: September 2013

I failed to post about anything we did in September, so I thought I'd take advantage of 'Throwback Thursday'.  Here's a quick look at our life during that month.

On September 11, each of the schools on post participated in a Freedom Walk where the children walked from their schools to meet at a field.  They were all decked out with red, white & blue, flags and other patriotic accessories.  The children sang songs and there was a brief but emotional ceremony where they honored those lost on 9/11 and the servicemembers that have served and been lost since then.

We were invaded by butterflies!  One of Marlie's friends told me ALL about the monarch butterflies and their migration.   This is just one of the many that were constantly in the bushes in front of our house.

Bryan and Marlie were able to enjoy an afternoon at a Father-Daughter Tea that was held on post.

Emma and I got to meet UGA football great (and Heisman Trophy winner), Herschel Walker!  He was here speaking about mental health which is obviously a huge issue in the military today.  Em & I dressed up in our red & black and he was kind enough to sign a few of our UGA football books too.
