Sporting Kansas City

Growing up in Georgia, soccer was never on my radar.  Bryan played football, basketball and baseball.  I played softball, basketball, tennis and cheered.  Soccer wasn't even offered in our area.  Now that we have kids of our own and have lived in other states (and another country), we've been exposed to soccer a little more.  We still don't know much about it, but we love sports enough that we are trying to figure it out.
This past weekend, Marlie & I went with some friends to see our first professional soccer match.  Sporting KC is Kansas City's very own professional soccer team.  When we arrived, there was a small activity area for kids.  Marlie jumped on an inflatable and got a free t-shirt (that looked more like a dress) that she put on immediately.  We found our seats just in time for the game to start!  Apparently the pregame excitement was a little less than normal, but we thought the blue smoke & "I Believe That We Will Win" cheer were both fun!

You can't go to a sporting event without partaking in the stadium food!
Marlie's picks for the day were a green slushie and cotton candy.
I stuck to a cherry lemonade.

I don't think she watched 30 consecutive seconds of the match.

But the kids had LOTS of fun celebrating when KC scored!
"We" won 4-0 & Marlie loved it all 4 times they sprayed blue confetti!

The kids were still wide open after the match!
Marlie is the only one that has never played soccer,
but I think this exposure to the sport helps her get excited about trying it out in the fall.

We had a fun time watching Sporting KC!
I hope all 4 of us can go back so Bryan & Emma can experience their first professional soccer matches.  Maybe before we PCS again, we might even know a little bit about soccer!
